I'm not a big fan of Macross franchise. In fact, this is the first Macross series I've ever watched despite the fact that it has been around for over 20 years. It's definitely awesome and highly recommended. The setting of the story is more or less similar to that of Gundam series. However unlike Gundam, its plot is more focus on relationship and friendship between characters rather than the exhilatering galactic battles. On top of that, the graphical animation is superb. So if you're the type who sometime watch anime for the graphical illustration, this is also just right. I would recommend watching this series in HD quality because it will enhance your visual experience (by a lot).

Besides the awesome drawings and superb animation, the soundtrack is nice too. Well at least, I like it. You probably won't find it nice if you just listen to the songs but you might love it after watching.
